Ever since she was a tiny girl with golden curls her eyes were upward turned. The flashes of crimson, blue, yellow, and orange captured her imagination. She loved birds. Parrots held a special place in her heart. Their intelligence, beauty, and ability to mimic and mock human language were among the things that drew her to them.
Throughout her years she has had several parrots in her life. She loved each one dearly, but she began to notice something. Not one chose her. They would always latch on to someone else. Not only did they not choose her, they often disliked her. Sometimes, when they really wanted something, they would pretend to like her--but once that cage door was opened you knew they didn't.
She fears she has found herself in a land of parrots. Among people she desires to know and spend time with, but who will never truly accept her or choose her.
Though this she fears, she will continue on as if she were in the land of children--for children do choose her and desire to spend time with her and do not do things to cause her harm.
So she tarries on.
