Looking down at her own feet, she can see soild ground, but the fog that was behind her is creeping across the landscape before her. The fog's thick smoky fingers swirled around her feet and gathered in low clouds upon the horizon. She gains one last glimpse of the path before her before the fog lays itself down. It is a beautiful hopeful place, full of all things wonderful, and then it is gone. Through the fog she sees shadows of the past, unwelcoming desert, craggy rocks, and deep valleys. The more she focuses on the mirage, the sharper the stone and more difficult the way.
After a time, she realizes that this is the material of mirages. The damage the invisible can do. So she finds a thick flat rock overlooking the path and retreats there for a time to pray and wait for the fog to clear.
